kids learn to crochet

Ok so don’t laugh when I say this but if you would like to learn to crochet, whether you are a kid or an adult, this is the book for you.

Kids Learn to Crochet has great illustrations on each of the basic crochet stitches and is so easy to follow.

I know when I’m teaching myself new stitches, I sometimes have to look the stitch and you don’t always find a great instruction video or illustration to follow.

The book is by Lucinda Guy & Francois Hall and has some cute little projects for the younger learner to make.

Checkout Lucinda’s website www.lucindaguy.com.

What new stitch have you learned lately?

Found it at the Library – Crochet in a day for baby

crochet in a day

I just love Candi Jensen’s books, she has some lovely designs that are just so easy to make.

Crochet in a Day for Baby is full of patterns for both girls and boys from age 6mths to 24mths.  The patterns are so easy to follow and you have 20 projects to choose from.

The one thing that I really love about this book is the little right up before each section where Candi shares her thoughts about the projects that she has created and some extra little hints on what else you can do with the items you are making.

Oh and the photography is just lovely.

Do you have a favourite crochet author?

What’s on the Menu – Cookies & Cream Ice Cream

How do you make the No Churn Homemade Ice Cream recipe even better, well you need to double the ingredients and put Oreo cookies through it.

My hubby has told me that I need to stop making this ice cream other wise we are going to put on to much weight lol.

cookies and cream Collage

This time round I used a 600ml of thicken cream and 400gm of sweetened condense milk.  Wipe the two together till it the mixture is think and nearly forming peaks.  Watch not to over whip it.

Then smash half a packet of Oreo cookies into big chunks and found through the cream mix.  Then freeze of course.

This is so yummy.  And I have more ideas still to share so stay tuned.

In the garden – Roses

Remember the new rose bushes I planted in my garden last year, well they have all finally flowered for the first time this year.  Aren’t they beautiful.

rose Collage

Unfortunately my red rose bush did not survive but I have recently replaced it with this beautiful pink rose called Sexy Rexy.

This rose bush is kinda special to us.  Andrew’s Grandfather was called Rex and sadly he passed away over 3 years ago.  Andrew’s mum had found the rose and gave it to Nana and Granddad as a gift but did not get a chance to remove the rose bush or take a clipping when the house sold and Nana moved out.

It has taken us this long to find one and we will take extra special care of it.

Miss you Granddad.
